Cardano chain

The cardano chain was inspired by a patent by an Italian scientist from the 16th century: a mathematician, physician, astrologer, and inventor Girolamo Cardano. He designed the universal joint (shaft), which later became the basis for the construction of the clutch. The chain isn’t made of traditional links, but rather from longitudinal modules connected with each other by Cardan joints. It’s not flat, but spacious and may have a round, polygonal, square or oval profile – it looks a bit like a rope chain.
